Simon Baker returns for ANZ wealth ad
The Mentalist star Simon Baker has returned for another ad for ANZ Bank.
The campaign, which was launched in 2011 by Whybin TBWA Melbourne, features the actor as the show’s human behaviour expert Patrick Jane.
The ad focuses on promoting ANZ’s wealth management services as he plays chess with a woman who likes to plan.
ANZ’s media agency is PHD.
Tim Burrowes founded Mumbrella in 2008. He worked on Mumbrella until 2021. At various points he was editor, content director and editor-at-large.

Not being a watcher of The Mentalist (a very boring, unconvincing character), I didn’t realise he was ‘in character’, so kept whingeing about him using an American accent for an Australian ad.
I shall continue to do so.

Keno me I am with you. I find the mentalist boring and full of quips by the main character. It is as tho he is not taking the case seriously. Plus he has terrible hair. I don’t like tha ANZ ads with Baker
