Six O’Clock Advisory signs up to new sporting integrity and governance collective

Communications firm, Six O’Clock Advisory, has announced it has partnered with Sport Integrity and Governance Partners, a new sports integrity and governance collective.

The announcement:

Leading strategic communications firm, Six O’Clock Advisory, has inked a partnership agreement with a new sports integrity and governance entity that features some of the most respected sporting sector leaders across Australia and New Zealand.

Sport Integrity and Governance Partners (SIGPA) is a collective of experienced and highly-credentialled sporting administrators, medical professionals, lawyers, gaming industry experts, data analysts and university researchers formed to help protect and promote best-practice integrity and
governance across Australia’s sporting industry.

Six O’Clock will provide SIGPA clients with strategic communication, stakeholder engagement and reputation management services, strategy and advice, including in the area of issues and crisis management and profiling governance and integrity initiatives and investment.

Among the SIGPA collective, which is led by sports integrity expert Iain Roy, is former International Cricket Council CEO and sporting board director Malcolm Speed AO, sports medical officer Dr Peter Harcourt OAM, Chair of World Athletics Election Oversight Panel Margot Foster AM, and barrister and former AFL Operations General Manager Adrian Anderson. The full cohort is listed here.

Six O’Clock Director Patrick O’Beirne said: “We were pleased to receive an invitation to join the SIGPA fold. There is an intersection between integrity measures and brand reputation, and it’s become clear over recent years how important good governance is to the public’s faith in the sports they love.

“The launch of SIGPA comes at a crucial time for the sporting sector, with scrutiny on trust at an all time high. And, of course, there is an additional COVID-19 layer at the moment, with cost-cutting measures making sports more susceptible to integrity breaches.

“We look forward to offering our services to what we expect will be a strong list of SIGPA clients.” SIGPA CEO Iain Roy said: “I’ve seen first-hand how important issues and crisis communication is in the management of critical integrity incidents, cultural concerns and the ramifications of poor
governance.

“We know that national sporting organisations aren’t necessarily flush with specialist communication resources, so we wanted to turn to leaders in this area to add another valuable service and expertise to our clients.”

SIGPA’s suite of services covers more than 30 critical areas that threaten the viability of sports today and in future, including governance cultural reviews, investigations, critical incident management, whistleblower protections, anti-doping, policy design and child-safety frameworks.

SIGPA can be followed online at www.sigpa.com.au, on Twitter or on LinkedIn.
