Sky News announces The Business of Sport hosted by Tim Gilbert and Julie Snook

Sky News has announced the launch of a new show focusing on the commercial side of the sporting world, hosted by Sky host Tim Gilbert and ex-Nine reporter Julie Snook.

The Business of Sport is being produced in partnership with Victoria University, Sydney Cricket and Sports Grounds and Venues NSW and will premier Saturday June 8.

Gilbert and Snook have both joined Sky News from Nine

The show will initially air at 11am on Sky News before replaying on Fox Sports News. It will also be available to stream on Foxtel Go and Kayo Sports.

The Business of Sport will explore the driving factors behind global tourism, marketing, trade and sponsorship. It will unpack technological innovations, performance training, the explosion in women’s sport and how data is changing the sporting world.

Each episode will bring together the people, brands, teams and ideas shaping and advancing the sporting industry on a global scale.

Gilbert joined Sky News in February 2019 after being let go from Nine’s Today Show during the shake-up which also saw Karl and Peter Stefanovic leave. Peter Stefanovic has also now joined Sky.

Snook joins the lineup of Nine talent who have moved to Sky News since ex-Today show executive producer Mark Calvert became the head of programming for the channel.

Sky News commercial director Cathryn Adams said The Business of Sport responds to a gap in the market.

“Australia is a famously passionate sporting nation, embracing an extensive variety of sport and competition from all over the world. Viewers are increasingly interested and aware of the business landscape behind their favourite codes, clubs and athletes, with an appetite for genuine insider information,” said Adams.

“The Business of Sport takes a first-hand look behind the scenes of our multi-billion dollar sporting industry. In partnership with Victoria University, Sydney Cricket & Sports Grounds and Venues NSW, we’re delighted to bring viewers a new program presented by industry-leading hosts that promise to captivate viewers.”
