SmoothFM hires veteran Radio 2UE newsreader Steve Blanda
Veteran radio newsman Steve Blanda has reappeared less than three months after the closure of the Radio 2UE newsroom.
Smoothfm has today confirmed the multi award winning journalist/newsreader will join Smoothfm’s news team from June 15.
In a statement Blanda said: “I’ve loved Smoothfm since its inception so it’s great to be part of the family.”
Blanda is a stalwart in the Australian radio and news industry having won a record 18 ACRAs. He spent almost two decades presenting the news at talk station Radio 2UE.
Matt De Groot, NOVA Entertainment’s national newsroom manager said: “Ever since Steve finished on 2UE, everyone had been wondering where he would end up. It’s a major credit to Smoothfm that Steve has chosen the station as the next step in his highly decorated career.”

Congratulations Steve. Terrible loss for 2ue/GB newsroom. Great gain for Smooth. One of the best radio newsreaders, if not the best, in the past 40 years of Australian radio.
Good luck.
