Sphere’s new GM Craig Hunter: large agencies have lost their appeal

Former DDB planning director Craig Hunter has joined The Sphere Agency as general manager.

Hunter joins from Black Sheep, a strategy consultancy he founded and sold to Photon in 2007.

He told Mumbrella: “I have been looking for an ad agency to make my home for some time. The larger agencies have lost their appeal to me and Sphere has impressed me since my first meetings with them.”

He added: “They have a natural energy and passion I have not seen in any other agency for a long time. It’s like a blast of fresh air, being able to really partner with media, digital, creative and activation specialists on a daily basis.”

Hunter will report to The Sphere Agency’s MD and owner Michael Abdul.

Abdul commented: “Craig brings with him a lot of strategic development and management experience. We are thrilled to welcome him on board and we will benefit from his skills as we continue to grow.”

Hunter spent a decade working for DDB in Sydney, Melbourne and London, where he began his career.

The Sphere Agency has around 20 staff.
