Spiral Media has been awarded the media acount for Flixster Inc.
The announcement:
Sydney-based Spiral Media has been appointed by Flixster Inc., which owns popular movie review website Rotten Tomatoes and the world’s biggest online movie community Flixster, to solely represent media sales for its brands in Australia.
Specialising in creating and delivering online advertising and social network marketing campaigns, Spiral Media will support the growth of the two successful brands in Australia by offering creating engaging, innovative media and advertising opportunities across Flixster and Rotten Tomatoes’ online sites and mobile applications.
More than 30 million movie fans around the world use Rotten Tomatoes, Flixster and Flixster’s host of mobile applications. Together they provide the most comprehensive movie information online including a database of more than 250,000 movies, 2.3 billion user reviews, 500,000 critic reviews, and more than 20,000 trailers and videos.
In Australia, both sites and Flixster’s applications attract 500,000 Australian unique browsers per month, offering new depth for advertisers working with Spiral Media to reach online social audiences, particularly moviegoers.
Spiral Media Managing Director Scott Wenkart said: “With the movie industry booming, this exciting new partnership means that Spiral can now offer brands and movie companies a fantastic opportunity to reach Rotten Tomatoes’ and Flixster’s unmatched online audiences.”
Additionally, the new partnership extends Spiral Media’s online audience for advertisers in social networks and social sites in Australia to 3.9 million visitors monthly.
With its Australian editorial team based in Los Angeles, Rotten Tomatoes will provide local Australian information and data with ongoing coverage of premieres, interviews and plenty more.
“We hope Rotten Tomatoes and Flixster will be the premier source of information, opinions and perspectives for Australian moviegoers,” said Joe Greenstein, co-founder and CEO of Flixster Inc., which acquired Rotten Tomatoes earlier this year. “We’re very excited that Luke Goodsell, who has been editor of Rotten Tomatoes in Australia, will continue to bring his fantastic knowledge and insight to our Australian sites as part of our team in Los Angeles.”
Since its inception in 2006, Flixster has grown to encapsulate more than 20 million online users per month and an additional 7 million users through its mobile applications.
Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer™ is based on the published opinions of hundreds of film critics and has become a well-known and trusted measurement of movie quality for millions of movie enthusiasts.
Spiral Media will leverage off the international success of both brands to further grow and expand them in Australia.
