Spotify launches music video feature in Australia
Spotify’s music videos have hit Australia as the streaming giant hopes to redefine the ways fans connect with artists around the world.
After launching the music videos in beta in 11 markets earlier this year, the offering is now rolling out down under (still in beta) for Premium subscribers.
Said to close the distance between artists and fans and set the stage for long-term, lasting connections, the music videos catalogue invites fans to connect with the music and artists they love on a deeper level.
According to Spotify, users who discover a song and then watch the music video on Spotify are 34% more likely on average to stream the song again the following week, compared with users who discover the song but do not watch the music video.
And on average, songs discovered with music videos are 24% more likely to be saved or shared in the following week by those who watched.
As part of the beta extension, Spotify is also adding a number of new features – time synced switches, video indicators, new music video notifications, and music videos on search.
Time synced switches will allow users to seamlessly switch between video and audio, while video indicators will be added to tracks to help users easily find and discover new music videos to watch.
The notifications feature will alert users of music videos for new releases that are recommended or from their recently saved tracks, while finding music videos will be made easier with the new search feature.

Best way to engage with artists is to just send them a DM on Instagram or Facebook. How do I know? I do it all the time.
