Stan and Ollie earn more than $750,000 at weekend box office
New comedy drama Stan & Ollie entered the weekend box office with $751,993, but failed to earn as much as Alita: Battle Angel, What Men Want and Oscar-winning Green Book.
The film, which ran across 263 screens, stars Steve Coogan and John Reilly, and is based on the later years of the lives of comedy double act of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
Since its premiere on February 21, the film has made $751,993. But the film failed to earn as much as Alita: Battle Angel, which topped the weekend box office for the second week.
The film, which features the story of an abandoned cyborg, pulled in another $2.3m in earnings across 453 screens. Since the premiere, it has made $7.3m.
What Men Want was the only other film of the weekend to make more than $1m. Green Book, which won three awards at the 91st Academy Awards, brought in $912,354. The film has made just short of $9m so far.
Escape Room added $524,357 to total earnings over the weekend, according to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia report.
