Starcom trio breaks away to launch media agency and production company
Starcom Mediavest Group directors, including general manger Lewis Hearn, are leaving the network to launch Hotglue, a content agency which will encompass media planning and buying, and film and TV production.
Hearn is launching the start up in April with Joseph Pardillo, SMG client business director and Nick Smith, digital director.
The three currently work on the Holden account based in Melbourne and will remain with the agency for up to two months.
Matthew Hearn, currently a film and TV producer for 403 Productions and brother of Lewis Hearn, will also join the new operation.
Lewis Hearn said the agency model is unlike any already in the industry and the media planning and buying component will be digitally focused.
He added: “We’re not taking any Starcom clients but we’ve got a number of foundation clients.”
Further details of the new venture are yet to be revealed.
John Sintras, SMG chief executive, said it is close to appointing their replacements.
Sounds like a great idea. Good luck to ’em
