State of Origin III dominates Wednesday TV, despite drop from 2022 viewership high

The third and final State of Origin match between NSW and Queensland dominated Wednesday’s free-to-air programming, despite a slight dip from last year’s record viewership.

Queensland’s hope of chasing their first 3-0 series win in over a decade was shattered, but they still lifted the Origin shield last night. The game aired to an average of 1.476 million metro viewers.

The FTA crowd is shy of the 1.792 million metro viewers for game three last year and 1.746 million in 2021.

The pre-match session aired to 693,000 metro viewers last night, and 545,000 tuned into the post-match.

Nine Network won the night with a 42.6% overall share, and a 36.3% primary channel share.
