State of Origin and The Voice give Nine honours for the week

The Seven Network will have to wait just a little longer to claim overall victory for the ratings year after Nine’s blockbuster week featuring the State of Origin and The Voice grand final gave it the win for the week.

The most watched general entertainment shows on Saturday night were all to be found on the ABC, with The Coroner at 7.30pm drawing 638,000, Gardening Australia at 6.30pm watched by 522,000 and the Doctor Blake Mysteries 400,000 at 9.10pm.

Seven’s AFL clash between Adelaide and Collingwood in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide racked up an audience of 381,000.

Despite the strong performance by the ABC’s shows Seven finished the night ahead with a 21.2% share on its main channel, the ABC with 13.4%, Nine on 11.8% and Ten on 8.9%.

Seven remains four survey weeks away from claiming victory for the year after Nine’s strong week, with the 2.055m people tuning into the last State of Origin match in Sydney, 1.293m watching The Voice winner announcement and Nine’s Sunday News with 1.254m giving Nine the ascendency.

Nine finished the week with six of the top 10 most watched shows and a share for its main channel of 19.9% ahead of Seven’s 18.2% and Ten’s 14.8%.
