Sunita Gloster, WPP AUNZ’s chief customer officer, exits

WPP AUNZ has announced that, “by mutual decision”, chief customer officer Sunita Gloster will exit the business after a year in the role.

The company’s CEO, Jens Monsees, thanked Gloster for her contribution to the business and its clients in a short statement.

Gloster had been with WPP for a year

“On behalf of everyone at WPP AUNZ, we thank Sunita for her contribution and wish her the very best for the future,” Monsees said.

Gloster joined the holding group in January last year from PwC, where she spent almost two years as CMO Advisory director and advisory board director.

Before that, she was CEO of the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) for four years, and had a short stint at Ten as chief commercial and strategy officer.

Gloster’s exit is the first since Monsees announced a three-year transformation strategy for WPP, involving a new leadership model. That model included appointing a ‘campus’ leader for smaller markets like Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, where WPP brands will work under one consolidated P&L in an effort to encourage collaboration and joint accountability. Mumbrella revealed those leaders had been appointed earlier this month.

Mediacom’s Brisbane MD, Katherine Williams, became Queensland’s group general executive and chair of Mediacom Brisbane. Wavemaker’s Adelaide MD,  Mat Hofmeyer, is now South Australia group general executive and continues in his Wavemaker leadership role. And Steve Harris, chair and CEO of The Brand Agency, stepped up to the role of Western Australia group general executive while retaining his The Brand Agency position.

The appointments coincided with the hiring of Monsees’ former BMW colleague Dominik Heitmar into the newly-created role of head of corporate strategy.

WPP could not comment on whether it will hire a replacement for Gloster.
