SXSW hosting series of meet ups as entries open for speaker proposals
Applications have opened for session suggestions for next year’s SXSW Interactive conference sessions, as well as entries to the Interactive Awards for the Austin, Texas based event. Local organisers are also hosting a series of free meet and greet panel sessions with conference veterans to share their thoughts on this year’s festival.

SXSW is also hosting special free “Movie Meet ‘n’ Greet” networking nights in Melbourne July 13, Sydney July 14, Adelaide August 3 and Brisbane August 4 with a panel of expert veterans in each city sharing secrets, tips and insider info as well as showing the 90 minute film “Outside Industry” on the raucous 30 year history of SXSW that was never released commercially because the producer never cleared the rich music within. In March 2015, over 750 paid delegates attended from Australia, 47 bands played official night showcases and innumerable parties, four Australian films were featured in the juried show and various interactive projects were nominated for awards.
The global statistics for all three SXSW events are attached. The Music Festival hosted 2266 artists from 60 countries in 107 venues, with 30,000 delegates and 3000 Music Media. 150 Feature Films and 106 curated Shorts screened with 20,252 delegates from 71 countries and 2250 Film Media. Interactive participants numbered 33,825 from 85 countries in over 1250 IA sessions with 3389 Media.
