Sydney radio ratings: Kyle & Jackie O pushes Nine’s Fordham off his perch as talkback flattens 

KIIS1065’s Kyle & Jackie O has pushed Nine’s Ben Fordham off from the top breakfast spot, despite 2GB retaining its #1 spot overall in Sydney, and losing listeners in the seventh radio ratings survey of 2022.

In breakfast, Kyle & Jackie O topped this survey, thanks to its increase in listeners, bumping up by a significant 2.1 percentage points to 14.9%. Nine’s Fordham saw a fairly decent drop in listeners, a bump down of 2.1 percentage points to 14.8%.

Overall, the 2GB network retained the #1 station in Sydney, despite bumping down by 1.2 percentage points to 11.6%. KIIS1065 saw a significant swing up by 1.8 percentage points, to 11.3%. 

Despite ABC Sydney coming in the third position in breakfast, ABC Sydney’s breakfast show with James Valentine, saw a decline of 1.3 percentage points, finishing with a share of 8.8%, while ABC Sydney overall finished up at 7.8%, a bump down of 0.9 percentage points.

Meanwhile not a huge amount of movement for, smoothFM 95.3, as the breakfast slot with Bogart Torelli and Ron Wilson finished up with a share of 8.1, increasing listeners by 0.4 percentage points, while the network overall finished up with a share of 10.3%, down 0.6 points.

WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda saw a slight increase in share, up 0.4 points, to 8.1%, after idling on a 7.7% share in the last three books. WSFM overall grew in listeners, up 0.7% to 7.7%.

Like the last survey, Southern Cross Austereo’s Triple M’s Mark Geyer saw a drop in listeners, this time by 1.2 percentage points to 3.7%. Geyer replaced Lawrence ‘Moonman’ Mooney after his departure in November last year. Overall, Triple M finished up with a 4% share, a drop of 0.9 points.

Nova 96.9’s Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli, who are joined by Sarah McGilvray each morning finished with a share of 7%, a slight increase in listeners, up 0.2 points. Nova 96.9 overall saw an increase in share finishing at 7.1%, up 0.3 points.

2DayFM’s Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee joined by Erin Molan as 2DayFM’s The Morning Crew, grew its breakfast audience by 0.5 percentage points, to a share of 4.2%.

In drive, KIIS1065’s Will & Woody topped the list, finishing up with a share of 10.6%, a bump up by 1.1 percentage points. 

Like the last survey, 2GB’s Jim Wilson continued to lose listeners, and saw a drop-down by 1.3 percentage points, to 7%, while smoothFM’s Byron Webb finished with a share of 9%, down 1.5 points.

Triple M’s The Rush Hour with Gus, Jude, and Wendell saw no change in share since the last book and remained with a share of 5%.

WSFM’s Steve Fitton, finished with a share of 6.8%, a bump up of 0.2 points, while Nova’s Kate, Tim, and Joel saw a slight increase in listeners with a bump up of 0.1 percentage points, to a 9.3% share.

The seventh GfK metro radio ratings survey for 2022 was measured between Sunday 14 August to Saturday 17 September & Sunday 25 September 25 to Saturday 29 October.
