John Thompson, who quit the Transport Accident Commission a fortnight ago, has emerged at Mitchell & Partners – the TAC’s media agency.

Thompson joins as GM of Mitchells’ Victorian government team, where he spent more than 15 years in senior marketing roles.

The Victorian government reappointed Mitchells as its media agency after a year-long review in September.

Thompson left the TAC where he spent eight years as senior manager, road safety and marketing in November.

Mitchells has also promoted Adrian Roeling to GM of its Melbourne office. He will oversee all client activity for the media agency and its digital arm emitch.

Thompson said in a statement: “As a former client of Mitchells, I have enjoyed the exceptional strategic thinking and service levels they provide and I relish the opportunity to work with the Mitchells management team to continue building their market leading reputation.”

Thompson and Roeling will report to Mitchells’ Melbourne MD Allen Scash.

Scash said: “Adrian has an exceptional track record in media, most recently with a strong digital focus, and is an excellent manager. John is highly respected within the marketing community and his experience will help our team continue to build our wonderful partnership with the Victorian Government. It’s a great step for Mitchells as we head into our 37th year in business.”
