Telstra uses dawn images captured by Instagram influencers to promote Google phone launch
Telstra took advantage of being the first retailer in the world to be able to sell Google’s new Pixel phone yesterday with an influencer-driven campaign using ‘early adopter’ Instagrammers.
The campaign by Taboo Group saw leading Instagram photographers use the 12.3mp camera on the new phone to capture the dawn across Australia on Thursday.
The telco has adopted the hashtag #theearliestadopters to allow people to follow the project with the influencers set to capture more imagery using the new phone in the coming days.
Andy Volard, director of Telstra devices said: “Since Google unveiled Pixel two weeks ago we’ve seen a huge amount of customer interest and that’s carried through to launch day.
“We were delighted to be the first telco in the world to open its door at our flagship George Street store to launch the new phones.”
The photographers have captured images from the top of Eureka tower in Melbourne as well as in a helicopter above the Glasshouse mountains in Queensland.
Volard added: “A key talking point is the camera. Smartphone cameras are such a big part of our customers’ lives and the Pixel can capture outstanding shots as the photographers we partnered with demonstrated today.”

All these new iPhones they seem to do every thing. The purpose of a mobile phone is making phone calls or has that been forgotten. I enjoy my phone but I learnt the hard way, everything you do with it cost more and I get undated with adds or subscriptions I don’t want need I go in.
