Ten pushes ahead of Seven for the second day in a row

Last night’s Masterchef elimination round proved to be the cooking show’s strongest night of the week among viewers in the majority of the main cities. But Nine still won the night, with Seven relegated to third for the second day running.

The elimination of contestant Fiona Inglis from the cooking competition saw a total of 1.74m viewers tune in, according to overnight preliminary data in the main metro markets.

It was the most-watched show in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide – while in Perth it was third to Seven News and Today Tonight respectively.

The strong result for Masterchef and Glee helped moved Ten’s main channel up to second place in terms of overall free-to-air TV channel share, with 23.5 per cent. Nine was first with 25.3 per cent and Seven was third with 22.9 per cent.

Yesterday, it was a similar story, with Ten coming in second to Nine.
