Ten scores ex-Seven newsreader Chris Bath
News and current affairs presenter Chris Bath has joined Ten as its national weekend news presenter.
Bath will join the network in early 2019 and will report to the network’s director of news content Ross Dagan.
Most recently, the current affairs presenter could be heard on Evenings with Chris Bath on ABC Radio Sydney, Canberra and NSW.
Prior to her time on radio, Bath was a well-known face on Seven’s news circuit, having been with the network for nearly two decades.
In early 2014, Bath stepped back from her Seven News role “to concentrate on Sunday night”, and was replaced by Mark Ferguson. Just over a year later, it was announced she would be quitting Seven, to be replaced by Melissa Doyle.
During her time at Seven, Bath reported from East Timor, Bali and Gallipoli and covered various Royal weddings and Olympics.
Ten’s director of news content, Ross Dagan, said: “Chris is one of Australia’s most respected news presenters. Her formidable journalistic credentials and decades of presenting experience are welcome additions to our already impressive line-up of presenters for 10 News First across the country.
“Beyond that, she’s a fantastic person. They’re qualities we value highly at 10.”
In addition to presenting 10 News First every Saturday and Sunday, Bath will contribute to Ten’s other programmes and platforms.
On her new role, Bath said: “I’ve been a visitor to Network 10 these past few years and have always loved the friendly, upbeat vibe of the place, so I’m really excited to be officially a permanent part of the team.”
10s gain is ABC’s radio loss. I hope the ABC did everything they could to keep Chris Bath as she has been sensational on that station. Her evenings slot has been the best that they have ever broadcast. I for one, will miss her Bathy’s Bird Club and the Silly Lyric Quiz.
