Ten to stop broadcasting The Loop
Saturday morning music program The Loop will cease broadcasting, with the final episode going to air tomorrow morning on 10 Peach.
The program has been on air for eight years, with long-time host Scott Tweedie departing late last year.
Tweedie originally hosted with Ash London, however most recently was alongside Liv Phyland.
Ten said Phyland remained an integral part of its line-up.
“After eight years of great tunes, The Loop will air its final episode this Saturday on 10 Peach,” a Ten spokesperson told Mumbrella. “Host Liv Phyland is a valuable member of the Network ten family. She will be seen on our screens on Ten’s new travel show, Ten Travlr, as well as a number of other programs.”
Mumbrella understands Ten’s multi-channel will replace The Loop with reruns of shows including Everybody Loves Raymond (1996 – 2005) and Becker (1998 – 2004).
Why would you replace the loop with repeats of everyone loves Raymond
Not a good move!!!

Good to see some fresh US content getting a run instead…
I understand young people don’t watch linear TV and The Loop was an easy cut, but as our free-to-air channels continue playing stale sitcoms at strange hours of the day they increasingly feel like those neglected Foxtel channels like TV1. Hard to promote TV as the home of live events or ‘must-watch programming’ when so much of what we see when we turn on the box is 10 or 15 years old.
Even if The Loop was a bit pokey, at least it was current.

Here’s a question: I wonder how many times M*A*S*H has been played in its entirety over the years on Aus TV, and I wonder what the grand total ad spend has been during its airing over the years.
