The 2024 Research Got Talent Award opens entries

The 2024 Research Got Talent Award competition is now open for entries.

The announcement:

Entries for the 2024 Research Got Talent Award competition that recognises and celebrates young talent in the data and insights industry, have officially opened.

Now in its fifth year, the competition is a joint initiative of the Australian Data and Insights Association (ADIA) and the global ESOMAR Foundation and entries will be open until 22 May.

The award encourages young professionals in the industry to use market research and insights to support local charities and NGOs overcome pressing social issues. The research aims to assist change in a range of areas including – but not limited to – gender inequality, access to justice and education, integration and diversity, Improving the lives of persons with disabilities, improving the lives of children, environmental issues and climate change, and sustainability.

The competition is open to young research professionals aged 18-29, who are ADIA member organisation employees or work for an ESOMAR Australian-based member (individual or corporate).

The Australian winner is automatically entered into ESOMAR’s global competition, giving them a unique opportunity to attend the ESOMAR Congress to be held in Athens from September 8-11 2024 and also attend the ADIA Leaders Forum conference in 2025.

Last year’s Australian winners were Alice Harris and Jack Ryan from Fiftyfive5 for their entry – ‘Project Wild Futures’ in association with Taronga Conservation Society which aims to future-proof its two current wildlife hospitals in Sydney and Dubbo.

Commenting on winning the award, Ryan said: “As young researchers, it’s not every day you get to oversee and execute a project from start to finish; for the RGT competition we got to design the proposal, lead the stakeholder engagement, setup and run fieldwork, and were responsible for analysis, reporting and final presentation to the client.

“We can’t emphasise how invaluable this was to our growth, learning, problem solving skills and confidence as we move forward in our careers. Additionally our client, Taronga Conservation Society, were incredibly grateful for the work we did for them that they otherwise would not have been able to do and are currently using our research as the foundation for their comms development in 2024.”

ADIA CEO, Sarah Campbell, said: “The Research Got Talent Award competition is a great avenue for young researchers who want to make a difference. We are delighted to continue supporting this initiative which addresses an industry goal to develop, support and celebrate up-and-coming talent. The judges are looking for projects that are innovative, address a prominent social issue and have the potential to make changes to the charity they support.

ADIA and ESOMAR have urged members to support this competition and celebrate their employees and company on the national and global stage.”

Entries open on Wednesday 10 April and close on Wednesday 22 May 2024.
