The Australian launches Teacher’s Pet sequel, ‘Who The Hell Is Hamish?’

The Australian has launched a follow up podcast to its Walkley Award winning Teacher’s Pet series with an investigation into the life and times of fraudster Hamish McLaren.

‘Who The Hell Is Hamish?’ features The Weekend Australian’s Greg Bearup following the convicted fraudster’s trail of scams across Australia, Britain, Canada, the US and Hong Kong in an eight past series.

The podcast promises to expose the easy ride white collar criminals get from the Australian legal system. McLaren pleaded guilty to 18 counts of fraud worth $7m in Sydney last year. He is due to be sentenced next week.

Who The Hell Is Hamish follows the celebrated Teacher’s Pet series investigating the unsolved disappearance of Sydney housewife Lynette Dawson in the 1980s.

Hedley Thomas, The Australian’s national correspondent who wrote and presented Teacher’s Pet, won the 2018 Walkley Award for best piece of investigative journalism for the series.

Thomas discussed The Teacher’s Pet podcast on the Mumbrellacast last October.

Mumbrella’s Audioland conference on May 2 will explore the rich ecosystem of the audio industry including content creation, distribution, marketing, industry trends, new technology and more. Early bird tickets are available now.
