The Betoota Advocate and Virgin Mobile defend millennials and avocados with #AvoFairGo mockumentary
Virgin Mobile and The Betoota Advocate have partnered to create a special investigation into “Avo-Cates” in a mockumentary video to discover who the avo-cates are what their agenda is.
Created by Emotive, Eleven, TBWA and WiTH Collective, two news reporters – The Betoota Advocate’s Clancy Overell and Errol Parker – investigate the epidemic and the problems it faces by interviewing avocado farmers.
“We have had a gut full of our best customers being vilified for enjoying a bit of smashed avo on toast, as if that’s there problem,” a farmer says.
The Avo-Cate movement is revealed to be those sticking up for millennials and discussing how Virgin Mobile is doing the same by offering fair and roll over data.
“Absolutely de-avocado-ed about the treatment of millennials,” another farmer says.
The campaign is set to run across cinema, digital, radio, in-store, PR, activation and social media with the hashtag #AvoFairGo.
James Gully, CEO at Virgin Mobile, said in a statement: “The way we use data is changing. Aussies need a fairer data offering that works for them and suits their lifestyle. They need data on their own terms. Fair Data uses the combined power of Virgin Mobile’s data products to give Aussies a fairer and more flexible data experience that works together.”

As a receiver of many Betoota advocate articles within friend circles, I hope their cynical readership isn’t scared off by the blatant advertorial.

Stoked for the boys. They’ve worked bloody hard to build up their audience. We’re all supporting them.
