The Block helps Nine to top Tuesday spot yet again

Nine sailed to an easy ratings win on Tuesday night thanks to the continued audience favourites The Block, The Big Bang Theory and the network’s news and current affairs line-up.

The Block topped the ratings ladder with 1.205m metro viewers, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings, followed by Nine news. The Big Bang theory was the second-most-watched entertainment program of the night, with a metro audience of 796,000.

Seven’s First Dates Australia, one of The Block’s 7:30pm competitors, placed 14th thanks to an audience of 538,000, while Ten’s Australian Survivor was up three places from last week’s Tuesday slot to rank 10th with 625,000.

The Block also topped the key advertising demographics – the 16-39s, 18-49s, and 25-54s.

Among the night’s news programs, Nine led with 980,000 metro viewers, closely followed by Seven with 947,000.

Home & Away continued its strong run for Seven, with 673,000 metro viewers tuning in. 800 Words, Seven’s other entertainment program, fell slightly from last week with 587,000.

According to the average audience shares, Nine won the night with a share of 32.5%, ahead of Seven’s 26.6%, Ten’s 18.5%, ABC’s 15.0% and SBS’ 7.4%.
