The Brag Media has announced the host and performers of the 2024 Shure Rolling Stone Australia Awards

Alex Dyson will host the 2024 Shure Rolling Stone Australia Awards, with Angus & Julia Stone and Crowded House confirmed to perform.

The announcement:

Rolling Stone AU/NZ publisher The Brag Media has today unveiled the performers and host for the 2024 Shure Rolling Stone Australia Awards, which return to Sydney on Tuesday, March 26.

Former triple j breakfast presenter turned host of the popular daily ‘Matt & Alex – All Day Breakfast’ podcast, and occasional political candidate, Alex Dyson will reprise his role as host of the star-studded celebration of Australian music.

Alex Dyson said:

“I’m extremely honoured to be invited back to the Rolling Stone Australia Awards once again. Sure, I wish it was because my experimental spoken word psy-jazz record was nominated for Best Album, but until that gets the traction it deserves I’m still thrilled to be involved in the capacity of host.”

Also announced today is the lineup set to take the stage at Ivy in Sydney where the Australian music industry will gather to celebrate the past year of incredible achievements both at home and abroad.

First up is one of Australia’s best-loved musical exports, Angus & Julia Stone. The chart-topping, critically acclaimed siblings, set to release their sixth studio album Cape Forestier in May, will serenade revellers with their inimitable indie folk stylings, while Angus is nominated in the Best Record category for his Dope Lemon project’s release Kimosabè.

Also scheduled to perform is iconic rock band Crowded House, staples of the Australian and New Zealand music scene since forming in 1985, going on to become one of our most successful musical exports. The legendary band have won 12 ARIA Awards and eight APRA Awards, achieving chart success in the US, UK, Europe and South Africa, and being inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2016.

Poppy Reid, editor-in-chief at Rolling Stone Australia publisher The Brag Media, said:

“With this year’s awards taking place at our new home of Ivy in Sydney, we wanted to really step up our performer lineup in 2024. I’m looking forward to hearing Angus & Julia Stone’s incredible vocal harmonies ringing through the venue. Of course, it’s also an absolute privilege to reveal that Crowded House will also take the stage at the awards, and we all can’t wait to hear these genuine icons of our industry.”

The annual awards welcome multiple new and returning sponsors this year, with headline partner Shure back for 2024, alongside American Apparel, JMC Academy and Largo Brewing.

Dave Hillen, general manager & director, Gildan Brands Australia, said:

“American Apparel is extremely proud to join forces with the 2024 Rolling Stone Australia Awards, where iconic style meets timeless music legends. Together we celebrate the blend of fashion and music, setting the stage for a partnership that echoes the rhythm of culture and the beat of iconic style.”

Vying for top honours at this year’s Shure Rolling Stone Australia Awards are the likes of Troye Sivan, Dom Dolla, Peach PRC, Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers, The Teskey Brothers and Fisher, who all received multiple nominations. Across the evening, the following awards categories will be bestowed upon worthy recipients: Best Single, Best New Artist, Best Record, and Rolling Stone Global Award.

Rolling Stone Australia’s average issue readership is up 10.5% to 243,000 for the 12 months to September 2023, according to the latest Roy Morgan Australian Magazine Readership Report. This represents a sixth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth for the local print edition of Rolling Stone – placing it ahead of staple titles like Harper’s Bazaar, Who, Belle, Australian Gourmet Traveller, Just Cars and Money Magazine.
