The copyright-busting election
This is rapidly turning into the copyright-infringing election.
First came AWU”s Abbott Family (since removed from AWU’s YouTube channel).
And today comes this effort from the Liberal Party featuring a cartoonised Julia Gillard and NSW premier Kristina Keneally.
Expect the phone to start ringing from the South Park lawyers about…. now.
There’s also a Queensland version featuring Anna Bligh:
Tim Burrowes
There’s those that flaunt copyright and then there’s the clever copyright ‘work-arounds’, such as on that ‘The Real Julia’ video shown on The Drum with Kevin Costner as ‘The Bodyguard’. I noticed whoever did it cut Kevin’s head from his creative commons Wikipedia shot and posted it onto a generic bodyguard body.
Scared of getting it pulled by Universal?

I’m surprised the Libs haven’t pulled out this classic clip from Harry Enfield: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnxPuidq1qQ

While it might not be copyright infringing, I love how the liberals ad – https://www.youtube.com/user/LiberalPartyTV#p/c/F2A41F26A3FCB1E9/13/KxCMm0zeO10 looks remarkably like this Van Halen video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qsx2ueGssf0

I do like the phrases that Julia has taken from Hillary Clinton – its a pity the libs never picked up on this for Julia – JuLIAR……

im sorry but i think youll find a style of animation cant be copyrighted and people long before matt and trey were using the cut out style, so while the ads are pretty horrid in their own right, and yes are obviously meant to make people think of south park, pointing the finger and screaming “plagiarism”, which is a fall back these day for anyone who finds something displeasing and artistically similar but cant come up with any constructive criticisms, is hardly fair.
