The Croods takes box office crown

The CroodsDreamworks animation The Croods topped the Australian box office over the weekend knocking G.I. Joe Retaliation down to third place while Australian film Goddess slipped out of the top ten.

The Croods, which tells the story of a caveman family, took $3,489,849 across 533 screens.

Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy comedy, Identity Theft took $2,313,817 in its first weekend outing, snaring second place followed by the Bruce Willis action flicks G.I. Joe Retaliation and A Good Day to Die Hard.

After last week managing to stay in the top 10 most popular films at the box office, Magda Szubanski musical Goddess fell to 18th taking just $45,111 across 62 screens.
