The Front Bar to serve up Furphy in 2023

The Front Bar is set to return on Seven in 2023, pouring pints of its freshly minted beverage partner, Furphy.

Resident patrons Mick Molloy, Andy Maher and Sam Pang will serve the Geelong-born ale during episodes on Channel 7 and 7Plus from 1 February next year.

Returning ahead of the 2023 AFL Premiership Season, The Front Bar is set to air 37 episodes in 2023 across Seven, with the new partnership replacing longtime sponsor Carlton Draught, after Carlton United Breweries was reported to have pulled the plug on the show earlier this week.

The partnership extends Furphy’s existing alignment with the AFL. Since Thinkerbell’s appointment as Lion’s sole creative partner, Furphy’s AFL activations have included limited edition ‘Porky Pies’, a social competition and an out of home campaign.

The Front Bar host, Mick Molloy, said: “Furphy slid into my DMs, we hooked up and the rest is history. I’ve always been a fan of Furphy. It’s a beer. It’s from Geelong and…it’s a beer.

“It’s great to have Furphy on board. They had to pass my stringent taste test first, which went for about two weeks, but I have high standards.

“I have a reputation in the industry as a tough deal maker, but the free sample eventually got me over the line,” he said.

“We wanted to change something, and once I checked that Andy Maher’s contract was watertight, we decided to switch to Furphy.”

Chris Allan, Furphy brand director said: “Another Unbelievable demonstration from Furphy, building on our support for a number of AFL and AFLW teams. We’re excited to partner with The Front Bar as we say cheers to Furphy shining bright on The Front Bar in 2023 and beyond”.
