The ‘ideas’ event TEDx launches in Sydney
Y&R Brands’ Nigel Marsh, Google’s Lars Rasmussen and The Chaser co-creator Julian Morrow will be among the speakers at the TEDx Sydney event to be held by the Sydney-based General Thinking network.
The event is part of the US-based organisation TED which brings together thinkers and industry leaders from technology, entertainment and design to talk about “ideas worth spreading”.
TEDxSydney is being organised by Sydney retail owner, Remo Giuffré of Remo General Store and his General Thinking network.
There have been smaller TEDx events held in Australia, but it is understood that the latest push will be first full scale TEDx event to be staged in this country.

I thought there was a TEDx event last year at the Carriage Works?
Correcto Mondo…there was also one of these ‘smaller’ events in Darling Harbour last week…anything to get press I guess??
This event is closely modelled on the actual TED event in the US – with all new / unique speaking content, an invitation and application process to attend, and some pretty interesting audience participation planned. It ‘s a fairly significant scale – attended by 650, plus an online audience via live streaming – and ABC coverage.
The curation for this has been in place for over 12 months, and hundreds of speakers and speaking submissions were reviewed by an independent panel – led by Remo who has attended TED in the US for two decades.
A TEDx event last year held at Australian Technology Park featured TED videos and some local speakers.
