The Incredibles returns to box office with more than $10m in earnings
It’s been 14 years since the first film, but the highly anticipated Disney movie, The Incredibles 2, entered its first weekend at box office with more than $10m in earnings.
The animated film, produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar, sees the return of The Incredibles, a family of superheroes. The film sees Helen is the spotlight, leaving Bob alone with the kids, attempting to navigate everyday life. But when a new villain unveils a dangerous plot, the family must work together again.
Across 570 screens, the film achieved $10.615m. In 2004, The Incredibles gross total in Australia was $20.930m.
Incredibles 2 made five times more than Ocean’s 8, which added $2.647m to its total earnings. The film, which premiered last week, has made almost $11m in total.
Another movie to premiere over the weekend was Warner Bros’ Tag, which stars Jeremy Renner, Annabelle Wallis, Isla Fisher and Ed Helms, is based on the true story of a team of friends who have play tag for month one every year.
On its opening weekend, the film made $1.117m across 270 screens.
Meanwhile Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story added $933,244 and $722,003 to their total earnings respectively.
Deadpool 2 has now made almost $35m, while the Star Wars spin off has made just $16m.
