The Punch Up talent bureau gives comedians a chance to sell out to advertisers

Comedians Nicolette Minster and Simon Keck have launched The Punch Up, a talent bureau to connect comedians and advertisers.

Born out of Minster’s frustration with campaigns attempting humour that fell short, the bureau promises to help agencies find writers that can supply engaging, memorable and funny content.

A ‘punch up’ is a comedy industry term for taking an existing script and ‘punching it up’ so it’s funnier, flows better, and pops off the page.

Minster, describes herself as “a comedian, almost oppressively surrounded by funny, irreverent and influential voices delivering brilliant content.

“srsly, I have so many colleagues dying for the opportunity to sell out,” she said.

Keck’s response on being asked by Minister about the idea of a comics’ bureau was emphatic: “It was a no-brainer!” he said, “As a comic you’ll hear someone tell a perfect joke that seemed to be right under your nose the whole time. That’s what The Punch Up is”.

The Punch Up aims at finding the writer who is the best possible fit for a brief says Minister: “If we can help our clients be hilarious, more relatable and influential to their audience by sharing our expertise, then it’s the perfect marriage of creativity and business”.
