The Weekly With Charlie Pickering finale pulls 651,000 viewers as Kitty Flanagan departs show

ABC’s news comedy show The Weekly With Charlie Pickering has managed 651,000 metro viewers for its season finale. During the episode, comedian and co-host of the show Kitty Flanagan announced she was leaving the program.

“I’ve had it, I want to do real journalism, I am sick of being your kooky stooge. I am like this show’s weatherman, your go to idiot. I am better than that,” Flanagan joked during her departure announcement on the show.

Airing at 8.30pm, The Weekly With Charlie Pickering topped its time slot and managed to beat Nine’s 496,000 metro viewers for Bite Club and Seven’s 459,000 for 9-1-1.

Meanwhile, Ten’s The Bachelor was the most watched non-news program for the evening attracting 884,000 metro viewers.

Airing at 7.30pm, The Bachelor topped Nine’s The Block which averaged 870,000 metro viewers and Seven’s audience of 556,000 for Highway Patrol.

The Bachelor was also the most watched program across key advertising demographics including 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

According to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings, Seven News at 6.30 was the most watched program for the evening with 980,000 metro viewers, edging out Nine News at 6.30 which saw 921,000 tune in.

In the 6pm news battle, Seven News managed 970,000 metro viewers ahead of Nine News’ 908,000.

Nine managed an overall win for the evening with a 20.5% audience share, topping Seven’s 18.3%, Ten’s 15.2%, ABC’s 11.8% and SBS’ 3.9%.

For the multichannel networks, 9Go! was the most watched channel with a share of 4%.
