The West Australian will next month run its third Click2Bid auction which will see $6.5 million worth of product put up for sale.
The announcement:
July 25, 2011 –
Seven West Media announced today the launch of their third annual Click2Bid online auction run by The West Australian.
Click2Bid will be live at www.click2bid.com.au from the 5th – 14th August, 2011. Bidders can register at the site as of Monday 25th July, 2011.
Over 200 vendors have contributed approximately $6.5 Million worth of product to the auction including $1.5 million worth of Home Electronics and Appliances courtesy of Retravision, a block of land from the Aspen Group, and over 20 cars.
Click2Bid is the biggest online auction in the southern hemisphere. Since its launch in 2009, Click2Bid has seen over 30,000 registered bidders purchase over 8,000 items generating over $6 Million of incremental revenue for the local masthead. With the growth of online shopping and daily deals sites the auction is perfectly positioned to deliver real savings to shoppers from local retailers.
David Bignold, Advertising Director at The West Australian is happy with the $6.5 Million sales result in terms of product secured for auction. “The response to Click2Bid has yet again been overwhelming. Our sponsors QBE Insurance and Vivid Wireless are back again in a resounding show of support for the project as are our major vendors including Retravision WA and the John Hughes Group.”
The auction platform represents the perfect balance between implementing an advertiser focused promotion that benefits local businesses whilst also offering reader’s fantastic deals of up to 50% off the usual selling price of the item(s).
“The recognition in the market place of Click2Bid has increased significantly year on year. The response from advertisers is that the auction is a fantastic way for them to increase the profile of their business in an innovative and interactive manner.” said Tom Martin, Project Manager – West Solutions.
As they’ve done in previous years, The West Australian will be donating part proceeds from Click2Bid to Telethon.

Unfortunately many of the sellers seem to have their own accounts to bid for the items and are really only using this for free advertising. Also many people have got in place some kind of auto bid so it doesnt matter what you chose to bid, you can never win the auction.
Lame…….
