The announcement:

Full service Marketing, PR, and Public Affairs agency Third Hemisphere has won ASX-listed tech investment & advisory firm Scalare Partners to lead public relations across its multiple brands, including to announce the Tank Stream Labs acquisition and capital raise.

Scalare Partners provides a combination of capital, operational support, and strategic guidance to early- and growth-stage B2B technology companies across Australia to support them to scale and succeed globally.

Its unique ecosystem model has seen it acquire a number of tech company-focused brands, such as Startblock, Tech Ready Women, InHouse Ventures, Australian Technologies Competition and, most recently, Tank Stream Labs.

Tank Stream Labs was a grassroots shared startup space established in Sydney’s CBD to help Airtasker pay its rent back in 2012. It has since grown to seven coworking locations nationwide housing top technology founders, and FY2024 revenue of $9.7 million.

The acquisition is a perfect fit for Scalare, whose industry-agnostic portfolio spans fintech, deeptech, healthtech, cleantech, and enterprise SaaS; its ecosystem is composed of 18,000+ founders and 400+ startups supported annually; and it has made 31 investments to date.

Third Hemisphere has long been known for building communications strategies for complex, high-growth businesses and policy-shaping organisations, including through work for ecosystem players like Sydney Angels, Stone & Chalk, Fishburners, and Cicada Innovations.

It was engaged to help Scalare clearly articulate its unique proposition to multiple stakeholders in an increasingly competitive media landscape, as Australia’s vibrant startup, scaleup, and technology ecosystem continues to navigate challenges to growth.

In this environment, authentic reputation building that cuts above the noise requires deep expertise not just in media and communications but also in what it takes to scale technology companies, according to founder and CEO Hannah Moreno.

Hannah Moreno, founder & CEO of Third Hemisphere, said: “It’s never been harder to cut through the noise in technology media. But for companies like Scalare with complex and novel offerings, there is also a messaging challenge.

“Because their model spans capital, capability, and community, Scalare is not just building businesses or offering traditional investment, they’re shaping the entire ecosystem. That kind of integrated impact deserves communications that are equally strategic and multi-dimensional.

“ This is where Third Hemisphere’s decade-long experience in the technology sector truly shines. We’ve built our reputation on helping organisations that operate at this level of complexity cut through the noise and speak with authenticity and authority. We can’t wait to continue working with Scalare in their important pursuit of building out an entire ecosystem of change.”

Carolyn Breeze, CEO of Scalare Partners, said: “We chose Third Hemisphere because of their deep expertise in gaining cut-through within the highly competitive technology sector. Their ability to turn complex business narratives into clear, impactful stories made them the right partner as we expand our voice and visibility across markets.”
