Toby Hemming’s Bold Media closes after eight years

After eight years, former News Digital Media head of corporate affairs Toby Hemming has made the decision to close his B2B focused PR agency Bold Media.

Hemming said the decision had been something he’d been thinking about for a while, but that the impact of COVID-19 sped up the process.

Speaking on LinkedIn, Hemming said the agency had ‘exceeded expectations’ in its eight years and worked with some of the best in the industry.

“After eight years, countless office spaces and more than a few ups and downs, it’s time to formally announce the end of a chapter with closure of Bold,” he said

“When I started the business (against the better judgement of some) in 2012, it was with the vision of providing the very best media relations and content to Australian media and advertising companies.

“I’m really happy to say Bold more than exceeded these expectations, expanding into Asia and working with some of the industry’s finest minds to stretch what was possible in telling their stories.”

Hemming thanked everyone who he had worked with over the last eight years. Bold added two members to its team in early 2019, including Dede Steward who now works for Clear Hayes. Bold Media rebranded its Singapore office in April to Bud Communications under managing director Oliver Budgen.

Hemming didn’t reveal his plans for the future, but said an announcement would come in due course.
