Tom Martin and Wilf Sweetland join AWARD committee

AWARD has announced its new committee members, which include Tom Martin, creative director at Clems Melbourne and Wilf Sweetland MD at The Sweet Shop.

Following their recent call for member votes, AWARD today announces its new committee members.

Tom Martin, Creative Director at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and Wilf Sweetland, Executive Producer and Managing Director of The Sweet Shop Melbourne, are the new faces of the Committee, as selected by the AWARD membership.

Martin was promoted to Creative Director at Clemenger BBDO in December last year, working with director Julian Schreiber. Martin has been responsible for the critically acclaimed Four’N’Twenty “Magic Salad Plate” and Guide Dog’s “Support Scent” campaigns, and works with clients such as Foster’s, Dulux, Fonterra and Patties.

Sweetland started his career pursuing acting, then worked in film production in L.A, before ending up at Melbourne’s Exit Films as a producer. He joined The Sweet Shop, a global commercials production company, as Managing Director in February of this year.

“Tom and Wilf bring with them an impressive list of creative credentials. We’re looking forward to working with them. We’re very pleased to have two Melbourne representatives joining us, enabling a renewed focus on our Melbourne membership and activities.” said Craig Davis, AWARD Chairman.

Tom and Wilf join the changing ranks of committee members including the recent appointment of Chris Gillespie, Creative Director, Future Buro and Duncan Marshall, Executive Creative Director, Droga 5. Together with Chairman Craig Davis, Publicis Mojo, Michael Ritchie, Revolver, Mark Harricks, JWT, Adrian McNamara, EURO RSCG and Dustin Lane, BMF, the committee represents the diversity and experience of the creative industry.

The committee will work across five portfolios: the industry’s yearly festival of Commercial Creativity ‘Circus’, AWARD Membership, Events, the annual AWARD Awards and the Education portfolio, currently operating under AWARD School heads Dustin and Adrian.

An ambitious agenda for 2011/2012 includes events such as the Battle of the Bands, pub nights and the soon to be released AWARD annual.

“We’ll be working hard to progress the AWARD agenda of growing membership, raising the profile of commercial creativity in the business community, as well as bringing our members together to exchange ideas, network and socialise.“ said Davis.

Outgoing AWARD committee members include Micah Walker, Darryn Devlin, Rebecca Carrasco, Grant Rutherford, Paul Nagy and, Luca Ionescu. Davis thanked them for their ongoing support and said:

“We thank the outgoing members for their time and effort to deliver for the industry.  AWARD is as strong and dynamic as its members and we are particularly grateful to those that offer their energy and expertise for AWARD.”
