Tony Abbott to launch new podcast with former chief of staff, Peta Credlin

Former prime minister Tony Abbott has scored himself a new podcasting gig with his former chief of staff Peta Credlin.

The Australian reports that Abbott and Credlin will join forces for a new audio title on Sky News, eight years after they last worked together in politics.

Credlin, who already has a television show with the network, said the duo has been working on the idea for some time.

“Because the boss is busy, and I’ve got a show to do and columns to write, we’ve talked about it to the point that he’s said: ‘Put up or shut up, Peta. If we want to do it, let’s do it.’

“What I got frustrated with post the Morrison era is all these people writing, ‘Oh, it’s the end of conservative politics, we’ve got to junk Menzies, we’ve got to move to the so-called centre,’ and all that rubbish. They don’t know the political history. They don’t understand these aren’t new challenges for conservatism.”

While the show’s theme is yet to be confirmed, Abbott will appear on Credlin’s Sky show every time a new episode is released each fortnight.

Credlin first joined Sky News as a contributor ahead of the 2016 Federal election. She started working alongside Alan Jones as a co-host on the Jones & Co show in 2017, and secured her own self-titled show, Credlin, in the same year.
