Tour de Cure’s Snow Ball raises 1.75M for leukaemia research

Tour de Cure’s annual black-tie Snow Ball returned last weekend for an evening of critical fundraising for cancer research projects.

The announcement:

The Snow Ball event took place on Saturday, 18 June 2022 at the ICC Sydney Grand Ballroom, with tickets for the event completely sold out.

“Whilst we are seeing Australia go back to almost normal, we are still seeing the long-term effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had on cancer and medical research in general,” said Dominique Robinson ,OAM, chair of Tour de Cure Gala Events. “We at Tour de Cure have not given up and our mission hasn’t changed. We need to keep driving cancer awareness and ensure that people continue to seek medical help despite the fear of COVID-19.”

With a significant 1.75 million raised last night, the much-needed funds will go towards Tour de Cure’s efforts, including much-needed pledges to a leukemia research project conducted by the Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia and the worthwhile Canteen Robots for Schools program, bringing normalcy to high school students who cannot attend school because of cancer treatment or recovery.

Some unmissable items available for auction last night included an ABC Bullion White Gold Riviera Diamond Necklace, an original 1920 Henri Matisse piece (“Portrait of Mademoiselle Matisse”), a Luxury Qatar Airways & Scotland Whisky Experience, and a Premium Seafood Experience for 10 hosted by seafood experts, John Susman and Steve Hodges.

Tour de Cure’s Snow Ball wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of ABC Bullion, the event’s Presenting Partner, plus Seven Network, oOh!media, Event Emporium, and Bimbadgen Wines, among many other generous partners.

Sunrise and Weekend Sunrise team collectively MC’d, with James Tobin at the helm. The event included performances by vocalist Bella Taylor Smith, superstar showman Hans, and The Australian Army Band Corps, plus an aerial silk performance by Couture Air.

Some of the VIP guests in attendance included Natalie Barr, Samantha Brett, James Tobin, Angie Asimus, Jamie Durie and Ameka Foster, Sally Obermeder, Kylie Gillies, and Tony Gillies, Simon Cohen, Ana Coppola, and Charles and Christa Billich.
