Tourism New Zealand focuses on traveller contribution with new website
Tourism New Zealand’s website newzealand.com has re-launched with an emphasis on traveller contribution.
Catherine Bates, Tourism New Zealand GM of brand and international PR told Mumbrella the new site was the final part of an 11-month process which has seen the tourism board shift from generating awareness about the country to targeting people who are actively looking at travelling to New Zealand.
The site, which was created by New Zealand digital agency Shift, allows visitors to contribute video, images, articles and comments on destinations and topics on the site.
“Through the open content contribution model we wanted to give it a community,” Bates said.
Visitors will be driven to the site through search engine marketing, online advertising, social media and TV ads.
Travel partners will be offering deals throughout the marketing material to also drive traffic and bookings on the site.
Site is a complete failure. Homepage is 22mb. Doesn’t work on iPads, iPhone or most browser for that matter.
The agency and Catherine Bates should be sacked for wasting a heap of money on a concept that clearly doesn’t work and wasn’t tested.
