‘Trash my ad’ competition seeks ideas for national anti-littering campaign

A national competition launched today by Keep Australia Beautiful invites young creatives under the age of 25 to create an anti-littering ad. The medium can either be TV or radio, and entrants must target their own age group. The winner will get a $1000 cash prize and their ad will be aired nationally.

Last year’s winner in the 18-25 year old category, by Rebecca Ambrose and Luis Logan, focused on the idea that when it comes to litter, ‘every bit counts’.

Last year’s secondary school winner, called Litter Kills, featured smoking animals – a play on the idea that every dropped cigarette butt pollutes and kills wildlife.

Entries close on 22 July and will be judged by a panel of advertising and marketing specialists, among them David Campbell, creative director at Adelaide agency Fnuky, and a youth panel.  Entrants should visit trashmyad.com.au to enter, where they can also view winning entries from 2009 and 2010.

Voting for the People’s Choice Awards, where the public decides which ad they think should win, is open until 8 August.
