Travel at 60 celebrates first year with strong growth

Full-service travel agency, Travel at 60, an offshoot of publisher Starts at 60, is celebrating a year of business with strong growth figures.

The announcement:

Travel at 60, Australia’s only full-service online and offline travel agency focused entirely on the Baby Boomer market, has marked its first year in operation with its strongest month of growth yet.

The business, a subsidiary to successful over-60s media platform Starts at 60, is currently tracking at 40 per cent month-on-month growth in total transactional volume (TTV), with August proving Travel at 60’s best month so far for increased incoming inquiries and conversions to bookings.

Wendy Harch, the chief commercial officer of Travel at 60, was thrilled to celebrate the 12-month milestone.

“I’m very proud of what we’ve built in just one year,” she said. “To have grown the business to be preferred agent partners with a number of suppliers, have solid repeat business and scarily good growth numbers is a fabulous start!”

Rebecca Wilson, the CEO of Travel at 60 and the founder and CEO of parent business Starts at 60, echoed Wendy’s feeling of pride.

“It’s been a year marked by the launch of our first TV advertising campaign, the growth of our in-house product team, the scale-up of our services team and really consistent increases in sales to our community of over-60s across Australia,” she said. “It’s been an enormous year!”

Travel at 60 is an online platform that sells cruises, tours and packaged holidays to a national audience of older Australians, from a call centre in Brisbane. Starts at 60 is a Brisbane-based media and e-commerce scale-up with major investors including Seven West Media, QUT Bluebox, the Queensland Business Development Fund and Hollard Insurance.

Over the past 12 months, Travel at 60 has embarked on its first television advertising campaign, featuring Australian comedienne Jean Kittson and running in July and August during prime-time programming on Channel 7.

Travel at 60 has also introduced an additional revenue stream through the provision of travel insurance to customers and has secured preferred partnerships with some of Australia’s largest cruise lines and touring partners.
