Triple J has announced it will be doing a Hottest 100 of the Decade countdown alongside its traditional Hottest 100 of 2019.

With two days to go until the Hottest 100 2019 countdown, we’re psyched to announce that we’ll be doing it again real soon with triple j’s Hottest 100 of the Decade!
It’s safe to say it was an unforgettable decade in music, so as we wrap up the 2019 Hottest 100 – the last Hottest 100 of the decade – we invite you to look back at your fave songs from the last 10 years.
This special edition of the Hottest 100 series follows on from previous all-time countdowns including the ‘Hottest 100 of All Time’ (1998 & 2009), ‘Hottest 100 Australian Albums of All Time’ (2011) and ‘20 Years of the Hottest 100’ (2013).
Now, we’re asking you to help us celebrate the decade that was by creating a definitive list of the 2010s. We couldn’t possibly rank it ourselves, but you can!
So vote for your favourite songs throughout February and then join us in March as we countdown the Hottest 100 tracks of the decade.
Warning: getting your shortlist down to 10 songs isn’t going to be easy, because a lot happened in the 2010s. Here’s just a snippet:
We witnessed the rise of once-in-a-generation artists like Frank Ocean, Lana Del Rey, Kendrick Lamar and Florence and the Machine
Australian acts like Gotye, Sia, Tame Impala, Courtney Barnett and Tones and I took over the world
Producers like Flume and Alison Wonderland went from their bedrooms to stadium shows
In 2017, we saw hip hop overtake rock and pop as the most popular genre of music in the US
Streaming services and social media flipped the industry on its head
Viral took on a totally new meaning and pop music had a renaissance
Beyoncé headlined Coachella
The Avalanches, Daft Punk and Tool made comebacks
We mourned the loss of some of our favourite performers: Mac Miller, Juice WRLD, Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Prince, Chris Cornell
