Triple M brings Dead Set Legends radio show back to Melbourne

Southern Cross Austereo’s Triple M has revived its Saturday morning sports show Dead Set Legends for the Melbourne market, this time featuring former St Kilda AFL star Leigh Montagna and Triple M Footy news breaker Jay Clark.

Dead Set Legends ran on Saturday mornings for 19 years in various cities before being axed in 2016.

The show slots back into the time slot which last year played host to Roy & HG

The Sydney version of the show had been hosted by sports commentator Ray Warren, Dan Ginnane and Richard Freedman.  In Melbourne, the program was fronted by Brendan Fevola and Mark Howard.

By the time of the axing, Fevola had already begun working on SCA’s Hit Network breakfast show in Melbourne with Fifi Box and Dave Thornton – The Fifi, Dave & Fev Show.

A few days after the axing was announced, however, Triple M backtracked and said the show would run in Sydney as a one-hour weeknight show at 6pm, with Ginnane returning as host.

The 10am to 12pm Saturday slow was filled with Roy & HG’s The Sporting Probe in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne.

Roy & HG’s show has now moved to Sundays from 10am to 12pm.

It is not clear who will host Dead Set Legends in Sydney. The show’s Twitter page still lists the program as running 6pm to 7pm Monday to Friday, however Triple M’s website indicates it is once again running from 10am to 12pm on Saturdays.

Speaking about the return of the Saturday show in Melbourne, Triple M Melbourne’s head of content Shaun Gough said the station was looking forward to a big and exciting yea with Montagna and Clark.

“A rotating cast of co-hosts and guests will join Joey and Jay each week. First up we have Billy Brownless. Bill’s got bugger-all to do until the Rush Hour returns March 19 and he is a dead set legend in many ways.”
