TV Wrap: Dancing with the Stars on Seven shines in Sunday entertainment; Nine wins the week

Dancing with the Stars on Seven scored an entertainment win at launch on Sunday night, but it was Nine that dominated the overall share.

The reality show, now in its 20th season, attracted 647,000 metro viewers last night. The celebrities this year include Home and Away actor Emily Weir, AFL player Gavin Wanganeen and Olympics medalist James Magnussen.

The launch marked an uptick from last year’s Dancing with the Stars: All Stars premiere, which brought in 588,000 metro viewers.

It was followed in entertainment by the first session of day three of The Ashes Series on Nine with 634,000 metro viewers, while Ten’s MasterChef Australia aired to 431,000 metro viewers.

Grand Designs Revisited on ABC brought in 401,000 metro viewers, followed by Parental Guidance on Nine with 375,000 metro viewers.

Nine Network won the night with a 38.7% share, followed by Seven with 26.4%, Ten with 15.6% and ABC with 12.8%.

The top-rated primary channel was Seven with 19.9%, but the top-rated multichannel was 9Gem with 16.3%, thanks to the Ashes.

Nine networks (30.4%) pipped Seven (29.9%) in ratings for the week ended 17 June. The top-rated primary channel of the week was Nine with 21.6%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated 7 Total TV Report for 11 June, Seven News was the #1 program with a Total TV audience of 1.299 million, with a 3% uplift and 33,000 on national BVOD.

The Kingdom on SBS had the biggest uplift of 78%, with a total audience of 321,000 and a national BVOD audience of 64,000.
