TV Wrap: The Block tops Sunday entertainment as Seven wins the week

Nine’s The Block was the #1 entertainment program on Sunday night, as the network also celebrated an overall network share win.

The Block brought in a metro audience of 1.064 million, while also winning all key advertising demos.

Ten’s Celebrity MasterChef was next in entertainment, pulling in a metro audience of 561,000, followed by an episode of ABC’s Restoration Australia which had 476,000 metro viewers.

ABC’s Fires brought in 371,000 metro viewers, while Seven’s Border Security had a metro audience of 322,000.

The #1 program on Sunday was The Block, surpassing Nine News which had 1.033 million metro viewers, followed by Seven News which had 947,000.

As mentioned, Nine won the night, taking an overall network share of 35% over Seven’s 25.5%, while Ten had 18.2% and ABC took a 15.2% share.

Nine won the primary channel share while the top-rating multi-channel on Sunday was 9Gem with 3.5%.

But Seven took the week ending 16 October with a tight network share win over Nine. Seven just pipped Nine with 29.6%, just ahead of Nine’s 28.2%, while Ten had 17.7% and ABC took 16.1%.

Seven also managed to win the primary channel share for the week, with a 20.3% share ahead of Nine’s 19.9%. The week ending 16 October, Nine led the demos 16-39 and 25-54, thanks to The Block.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 8 October, Seven’s Hey Hey We’re 50 was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 2.116 million viewers, including 97,000 on BVOD and an uplift of 12%.

The program with the biggest uplift however was an episode of ABC’s Fires which had a 45% uplift on overnight figures and had a total of 700,000 viewers overall.
