Twitch launches in-house sales team for Australia, fronted by Steve Ford

Entertainment community and streaming platform Twitch has announced its first in-house commercial team for Australia, based in Sydney and headed up by VP of international sales Steve Ford.

The announcement:

Twitch Announces Steve Ford to Helm Asia Pacific Sales and New Team in Sydney

Twitch, the leading service and community for multiplayer entertainment, today announced an expansion of activities in Australia with the establishment of the company’s first in-house sales team in Sydney, part of a greater Asia Pacific-focused department headquartered in Singapore. Steve Ford, Twitch’s longtime head of international sales, will take on a new role as the VP of APAC Sales. Steve will be based in the Singapore office while overseeing hiring of the advertising department in Sydney, as well as sales activities throughout the region.

“Australia and Singapore are incredibly exciting markets for us,” said Steve Ford. “We have seen our audience of creators and viewers in those regions grow and with that, a tremendous appetite from our advertising partners to build deeper partnerships and better understand how to engage with our community.”

Previously, Steve led the establishment of the Twitch UK and greater Europe sales team. Through successfully communicating the value of an interactive live streaming audience to a new market, Steve and his department built partnerships with advertisers across a range of verticals.

Twitch began activities in Australia in 2014 and now has a team leading partnerships and content efforts. Goals for the coming years include building both the Singapore- and Sydney-based teams and expanding the company’s footprint with a diverse array of brand partners in the Asia Pacific region.

Twitch has 15 million average daily visitors worldwide and boasts over 1.3 million tuning in at any given time. As reach beyond gaming broadens, a wider range of advertising partners are turning to Twitch to leverage opportunities around live streaming with an interactive community element.
