Two in the running for SMH?
The field has narrowed to two front runners to be next editor of Fairfax’s Sydney Morning Herald, according to media commentator Margaret Simons.
She says the battle is now between Peter Fray of the Canberra Times and Mark Baker of The Age.
The vacancy came when former editor Alan Oakley quit (or was pushed) following a period of turmoil and redundancies at Fairfax. he was followed hours later by CEO David Kirk, who has since been replaced by deputy Brian McCarthy.
