Uber pitches creative account

Ride-sharing service Uber its pitching its creative account, Mumbrella understands.

It is unclear how many agencies are participating in the pitch at this time, however Mumbrella understands the pitch is well underway.

The news follows One Green Bean’s appointment to the brand’s local PR account in June last year and MediaCom’s appointment as media agency at the beginning of this year.

While Uber is well known for its PR marketing stunts, including Uber Kittens and Uber Puppies, the brand will now look for a creative lead in the Australian market.

More recently, Uber teamed up with Drinkwise to launch its ‘Be a Friend’ campaign, encouraging drivers to look after a friend who has been drinking.

Gold coast agency 40/40 Creative worked on the national campaign and has previously done local work for the ride sharing app.

Nic Nichols, founder and executive creative director at 40/40 Creative told Mumbrella: “Uber has always been involved with a number of creative agencies, and we have been lucky enough to work on many Uber campaigns including UberPUPPIES, UberJET, UberEATS and Uber X DrinkWise.

“With a brand like Uber the more creative minds working on this the better, and we look forward to any future opportunities to work with their team.”

The decision to pitch follows on from Uber UK appointing Bartle Bogle Hegarty a year ago, and Uber US appointing Deutsch as its first agency partner in August last year.

Uber has declined to comment.
