UFC 300 showed why promotion is ‘on track for another record-breaking year in Australia’
If anyone needed more proof that UFC is quickly becoming one of the biggest sports in Australia, look no further than its milestone event this past weekend.
Hosted at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, UFC 300 was not only the third highest grossing event ever for the mixed martial arts promotion, but delivered the highest commercial PPV numbers in the US since July 2021 and since January 2021 for Australia.
Last weekend’s event made headlines around the world with the thrilling final-second KO between Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje, and was headlined by Light Heavyweight champion Alex Pereira defeating Jamahal Hill in round one.

For local sports fans, it’s interesting to note that the UFC ANZ Instagram account has now surpassed the AFL (1.1 million), NRL (1.3 million), NZ All Blacks (1.5 million) and Cricket Australia (1.5 million) with 1.56 million followers.
Throughout UFC 300 fight week, UFC Aus/NZ social media amassed 42.4 million video views and reached 32.7 million accounts. Regionally, over 3 million Aus/NZ accounts engaged with UFC 300 content throughout fight week.
It comes just months after the UFC announced a multi-year deal with ESPN Australia, while Kayo Sports also signed a deal which will see Main Event become the exclusive pay-per-view channel for UFC fights in Australia.
All of this comes ahead of the UFC’s return to Perth on 18 August when RAC Arena hosts UFC 305 and another yet-to-be-determined Fight Night event in a partnership with Tourism Western Australia.
Peter Kloczko, UFC Australia and New Zealand senior vice president, told Mumbrella on Friday that the success of UFC 300 across the country hints at some big things to come.
“UFC 300 lived up to all the hype. A massive milestone moment for UFC that will be long remembered by fans across the world,” Kloczko said.
“Locally, UFC 300 continues an incredibly strong start to 2024 in terms of content sales and viewership and springboards into additional major moments that are on the horizon.
“Momentum is key and UFC is stringing together some unmissable events in the lead up to UFC 305 in Perth and beyond. We are on track for another record-breaking year in Australia.”
