Underbelly takes Nine to biggest win of the year
Underbelly has continued its storming run with an estimated audience of nearly 2.5m last night, helping the Nine Network to finish nearly 10% ahead of its nearest rival last night.
Meanwhile, Ten had a tough evening, nearly being beaten by the ABC. According to the preliminary OzTam figures, Underbelly lifted Nine to its most decisive victory so far in the ratings season. Nine took a peak time audience share of 34.2%, followed by Seven with 24.9% and Ten with 17.6%. The ABC took 16.5% and SBS 6.8%.
The figures do not take into account regional audiences. Once they were taken into account last week, the first episode of Underbelly reached an average of more than 3.4m viewers – 2.6m metro, 850,000 regional.
So far this week, Nine has a strong ratings lead, although Seven will be hoping to narrow that gap with Packed To The Rafters as tonight’s big hope.

Underbelly – A Tale of Two Cities might be dragging in the viewers but I must be seriously missing something. The first two episodes (three really, when you consider the double-headed opener), have been devoid of any real storyline and displaying more boobs than an annual subscription of The Sunday Sport. I was speculating with my co-viewers last evening that a naked breast was being exposed at least once every 3 minutes of airtime. A friend has likened it to soft porn, whilst I prefer to call it pathetic. Am I alone?

No you are not alone Square yes.
We finally got around to watching it last night (God love Foxtel IQ) and I was sadly underwhelmed by the lack of plot, unoriginal storytelling and overall blahness of it all.
It’s as if in a desparate attempt to cash in on last year’s success they’ve taken a really small idea and pumped out a half baked tv show.
When will Channel 9 realise that a lot of their viewers are not as dumb as they’d like to think they are? Before or after they drag Eddie McGuire back onto our screens?
