UnLtd’s gaming competition The Big Game returns for 2021

UnLtd’s gaming competition, The Big Game, is returning in 2021 with participating teams from across the Australian media and marketing industry battling it out over video game Rocket League.

It will take place over five weeks, kicking off on 11 May. There are still places left for teams to register, with a limit of 28 teams able to take part.

The grand final will be held as a live, in-person event on Thursday 10 June in Sydney, with other games and activations available to take part in for free.

The competition launched in May last year with Twitch partnering with UnLtd to make the competition possible in lockdown. Twitch has returned as a partner this year, with head of sales Ricky Chanana commenting on the contribution UnLtd makes to society.

“We’re very excited to be supporting the UnLtd Big Game. With the explosion in popularity of e-sports across the world, it’s great to be able to provide a service for the industry’s unsung heroes, our gaming gurus, to battle it out for bragging rights and of course to support the great work of UnLtd. Calling for all gamers in the industry to assemble.”

The inaugural competition raised $56,000 for charity and saw OMD crowned the winner after triumphing over Carat.

UnLtd CEO, Chris Freel, said there was no question over bringing the competition back in 2021.

“Last year’s Big Game proved to be hugely popular – turns out our industry is full of keen and talented gamers. It was a unique way for people to connect and bond in the spirit of friendly competition at a very difficult time. We’re very excited to bring it back this year as our first-ever hybrid event, creating the opportunity for our industry to experience the excitement and share their support in person, all for a good cause.”

Teams looking to register their place in the competition can contact tiff@unltd.org.au.
